Are your technological skills less than that of the average elementary school student? That is probably a GOOD THING! Tech-savvy parents like the VP of Google are paying BIG BUCKS to send their kids to schools that basically ban technology until high school...and then it is used sparingly. It’s not that the teachers or parents are anti-technology, they’re from it! It’s just that they understand and are in favor of a “healthy” education.
What is a “healthy education”? It’s not the traditional form of education that has been shoved down the public’s throat since the early 1900’s, we know it is unhealthy and ineffective. Still, a healthy education isn’t a new concept. In fact, it’s a very old concept that has periodically tried to make its way into mainstream education…only to be driven back by a very narrow-minded, yet omnipotent and politically connected group of non-educators.
But enough about “them”! Let’s get back to the bright, hopeful, positive side of education, the healthy side. Progressive educators are wise enough not to mention certain names IF they want to quietly go about the business of truly educating their students. So, there’s a “new” old name in town…WALDORF.
